SMU DataArts, the National Center for Arts Research at Southern Methodist University, invites nominations and applications for its next Research Director, to begin April 2023 for a ten-year term. This non-tenure track faculty position at the Research Professor or Research Associate Professor level is an exciting opportunity to direct and shape the future of research on all aspects of the nation’s diverse arts and culture ecosystem. Extraordinary candidates at the Research Professor or Research Associate Professor level will be considered.
About SMU DataArts: SMU DataArts, the National Center for Arts Research, is a project of the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. SMU DataArts compiles and analyzes data on arts organizations and their communities nationwide and develops research articles and reports on important issues in arts management, arts ecosystems, patronage, and equitable access and inclusion. Minimum qualifications: A Ph.D. degree is required. Candidates should have an established track-record publishing research articles in top academic journals. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter who will have excellent analytic, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred qualifications: Research experience using the field of arts and culture or related industries as a context of study. Also desirable are the ability to mentor culturally diverse post-doctoral researchers and experience working with culturally diverse colleagues.
