The Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) in Saudi Arabia invites applications for the position of Economist/Senior Economist in its Insights and Economic Research Unit (IER). We are looking for recent PhDs as well as candidates with professional experience to join our team.

The MEP serves as the economic advisory arm for the Saudi government. MEP’s economists conduct research and analyze policy issues. Their work is directed toward an audience of senior policymakers, researchers, market professionals, and the general population.

In this role, you would be engaging in research on topics related to macro issues and policymakers, contributing to the drafting of policy notes and economic briefs for senior government officials, serving in policy working groups and committees, and advising senior management on issues within their field of expertise.

Qualifications and requirements:
• a Ph.D. in economics or finance, preferably in the areas headlined;
• a strong interest in policy-oriented research;
• a proven track record in identifying and addressing complex policy issues;
• and excellent writing and communication skills in English. Arabic is a bonus.
