Western Carolina University’s College of Business invites applications for a 9-month tenure track position in Economics beginning in August 2023 at the Assistant Professor level. Ph.D. in Economics or a related discipline is required prior to commencement of employment. Teaching preferences include experience/interest in teaching Principles of Economics, Health Economics, and MBA courses. The College of Business is AACSB accredited and has over 60 full-time faculty members. The review of applications will begin on or about November 1st, 2022 and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.
A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the mission of the economics discipline in providing students with the skills needed to address the challenges of contemporary business. A demonstrated record of achievement in teaching at the college or university level is preferred. The expected teaching load is 18 semester hours per academic year. This position requires teaching face-to-face and online courses, advising, and service activities as designated by the school director. Some teaching assignments may be located at an instructional site in Asheville, N.C. Moreover, the successful candidate must be willing to meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding the College of Business faculty qualification as it relates to scholarship and publication.

Qualifications:
Minimum: A Ph.D. or ABD in Economics or an appropriate business field is required.
If ABD, dissertation defense date and completion of all degree requirements on or before August 15, 2023, will be considered. The applicant must have completed 18 graduate credit hours in Economics from an AACSB-accredited institution.
Preferred: An established record of scholarship in the field of Economics. Teaching and/or research interests in Health Economics. Teaching experience at the graduate level.
