The Nature Conservancy seeks an Applied Economist to join its team of scientists on the Protect Oceans, Lands and Water team. The Applied Economist will undertake research to advance our organizational effort to protect 30% of the planet by 2030 (30x30). The position is open to candidates with interest and experience in assessing the costs and benefits of biodiversity conservation. They will help estimate net benefits to a country from increasing protection, evaluate outcomes, including distributive outcomes, associated with protection strategies, and identify effective financing options. To identify country-specific considerations and disseminate findings, the Applied Economist will also spend some 50% of their time coordinating discussions related to 30x30 protection among partners. The position is open to candidate with work experience in low- and middle-income countries and approximately 5 years of post-graduate experience. The location for this position is flexible within countries where The Nature Conservancy has an office.
