Full Text of JOE Listing:

The University of St.Gallen and its School of Economics and Political Science are inviting applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professorship in the field of econometrics. Candidates with a focus on applied or theoretical econometrics, including machine learning, are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have (or aim to establish) a promising record of internationally recognized research and show commitment to teaching excellence. Experience in advising students on econometric methods would be an advantage, as this will constitute a part of the successful candidate’s workload.

Teaching can be in English exclusively. The University's administrative language is German and speaking the language is an advantage in interacting with local stakeholders. If the successful candidate has no prior knowledge of German, they will be expected to acquire a passive knowledge of the language within two years.

We seek to fill the position per August 1st, 2023, or by mutual agreement. The appointment is for up to 6 years.

Interviews will take place online on the European Job Market for Economists (EJME). Short-listed candidates will then be invited to present their research during a visit to St. Gallen in January 2023. For further information, please contact Professor Michael Lechner, chair of the hiring committee (facultyposition@unisg.ch).

The application should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching and research statement, list of publications and two reference letters. Candidates should submit their application to the President of the University of St.Gallen, Professor Dr. Bernhard Ehrenzeller, online via www.unisg.ch/professorships at the latest by November 27, 2022.

The University of St.Gallen is strongly committed to promoting equal opportunities and diversity. We specifically encourage women and applicants with backgrounds underrepresented among our current faculty to apply.
