The School of Economics and Finance invites applications for a full-time tenured faculty member in Economics. The primary area of interest is macroeconomics, but applicants in all areas of economics are encouraged to apply. The position is based at our Manawatu campus in Palmerston North.

You will be expected to teach economics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise students in our Masters’ and Ph.D. programmes, and actively pursue your research agenda. We offer a relatively low teaching load. The Business School’s Workload Model determines the teaching workload based on research productivity and other factors. Early career academics will normally have a teaching load of two courses for the first years.

You will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Economics, a strong continuing research record, or excellent research potential.

Our School offers degrees at all levels in Economics, Finance, and Property. Our research activities are supported by a collegial but ambitious research environment. Our faculty published in journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, etc. We offer research support, and an additional Research Excellence Scheme provides financial incentives for publications in high-ranking journals.
