The University of Connecticut invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Empirical Industrial Organization and Applied Econometrics. Applicants must have received a doctoral degree in economics or a related field by July 2023, the anticipated start date. The position provides an outstanding opportunity for collaborative and self-directed research with the expectation of publishing in top academic journals.

This position is funded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture for up to two years. The research team includes Drs. Rigoberto Lopez at the University of Connecticut, Sandro Steinbach at North Dakota State University, Aviv Nevo at the University of Pennsylvania, and doctoral students at these institutions. The project deploys advanced econometric modeling and large datasets to investigate the implications of the evolving food retail structure for competition and consumer welfare.

Applicants will be evaluated based on (1) the quality of the applicant’s research achievements, (2) the fit between their interests and the project objectives, and (3) the contribution they are likely to make in the future.
