The Department of Economics (https://economics.ecu.edu/) at East Carolina University (https://ecu.edu) invites applications for the position of Chairperson and James E. and Constance Paul Distinguished Professor. This is a 12-month, leave-earning position that is set to begin 7/1/2023.
The Chair will provide effective administrative and intellectual leadership for the department. Responsibilities include facilitating strategic planning and resource allocation; promoting excellence in faculty research and teaching; mentoring faculty and students; fostering faculty members’ efforts to secure external funding; ensuring quality, integrity, and growth of student degree programs; supporting departmental, college, and university policies and standards; fostering collegial relations in departmental governance; effectively representing the department to internal and external constituents; teaching and maintain an active research agenda.
The selected Chair will also serve as the James E. and Constance Paul Distinguished Professor in the Department of Economics for an initial 5-year appointment, with possibility of renewal for subsequent terms.
