The ARE department at the University of Connecticut seeks a promising early career researcher in applied economics and data science. This full-time, non-tenure track position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2023.

Primary criteria are the quality of the applicant’s research and interest/experience in agricultural/food economics and data science (big mobility data analysis). The position provides an opportunity for independent research and collaboration. The postdoctoral research associate is expected to participate in the University’s intellectual activities and may participate in the teaching program.

Minimum Qualification: Successful applicants must have received a doctoral degree in economics, or related fields, preferably within the last two years (or expected by July 2023). They should have excellent oral and written communication skills and training in food or agricultural economics and data science. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications: A record of extramural funding and publications; training and analytical experience in food/agricultural economics and data science, including demonstrated ability to use machine learning techniques; experience using human mobility data; ability to estimate structural consumer and firm models and analyze impacts of food access policies. The successful candidate can work independently and in a collegial manner with colleagues and clientele from diverse disciplines.
