Full Text of JOE Listing:

The U.S. Forest Service is currently outreaching for three research economists positions within the Human Dimensions program at the Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS):

• Postdoc in computational economics, urban and community economics, or water economics (Fort Collins, CO). This research program develops mathematical programming models for ecosystem services and natural capital valuation, particularly related to urban sustainability, climate change, and forests’ role in providing municipal drinking water.

• Research Economist/Research Forester to join the Wildfire Risk Management Science (WRMS) Team (Fort Collins, CO or Missoula, MT). WRMS provides a key link between wildland fire science development and the appropriate application of that science, delivering actionable research at the intersection of risk, decision, and systems analysis, operations research and management science, economics, and fire ecology.

• Research Economist/Research Forester focused on climate change mitigation (Fort Collins, CO or Missoula, MT). This research will entail discovery and tools focused on the economic viability of new technologies and management approaches in natural resource management, with an emphasis on the nexus between forest management, climate change, and mitigation.

RMRS scientists work collaboratively across research topics and with experts from local, state, tribal, federal, international, academic, and non-governmental organizations.
