The area will be determined based on research area/interest and teaching experience. Rank is open (assistant, associate and full professor); salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Seasoned candidates with established track records in research and teaching could be eligible for the Ashley Family Professorship of Behavioral Economics if the candidate is able to provide support for the instructional needs of graduate and undergraduate courses in behavioral economics.
We seek an outstanding scholar with a track record of research in leading academic outlets, especially in the following areas: behavioral economics/behavioral science, computational models of decision making, behavioral risk management, and use of machine learning or AI for generating insights into human behavior. Candidates may come from backgrounds in business economics, strategy, finance, accounting, marketing, operations, or management, and use research methods that may include lab, field, and natural experiments. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an impactful program of research relevant to broad societal, economic, and business issues and to communicate results to policymakers and practitioners. Excellent teaching skills are a must. The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in Cornell University’s Behavioral Economics and Decision Research Center (BEDR), founded in 1987 by Richard Thaler as the birthplace of behavioral economics.
It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.
Candidates must have a PhD in economics, psychology, behavioral science, data science, or related fields by the time they start in the position. Preferred candidates will demonstrate high standards of accomplishment in research, teaching, and service.
