We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow with strong empirical methods skills and interests in health policy and health economics research, to work under the supervision of Professor Bernard Black, at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management (see http://ssrn.com/author=16042), in collaboration with Prof. Ali Moghtaderi at George Washington University (see https://publichealth.gwu.edu/departments/health-policy-and-management/ali-moghtaderi) and other researchers at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine on empirical health policy projects.
The position is a two year, full-time appointment that provides a competitive stipend and benefits (first year guaranteed, second depends on satisfactory first-year performance). The post-doctoral fellow will consult with and assist Professors Black and Moghtaderi and other faculty members at Northwestern and George Washington on experimental design, data collection and management, and data analysis, will participate as a coauthor on publishable research projects in health economics, law and economics, and health services research. We invite applications from candidates with advanced training in relevant disciplines, including economics, political science, statistics, public policy, psychology, and sociology.
Opportunities include:
- Working closely with Profs. Black and Moghtaderi and other experienced researchers on the design and conduct of empirical research projects – both your own projects and joint projects;
- Improving and extending your own methods knowledge and writing skills;
- Having sufficient unallocated time to complete research projects begun during your PhD work;
- Working with experienced investigators to prepare grant applications;
- Participating in and presenting work in research seminars and academic conferences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by June 2023;
- Strong empirical research skills;
- Proficiency with Stata, R, SAS, or similar statistical software programs.
