The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis looking for a Senior Researcher to join the Institute for Economic Equity (IEE). IEE's data, analysis and narrative approach (DAN) promotes a more equitable economy for households and communities in the Eighth Federal Reserve District and beyond. It supports an economy that works for all, regardless of race or ethnicity, gender or where they live.

As a Senior Researcher, you will participate in several independent and collaborative projects which expand IEE's past and current work, plus explore new lines of research with a focus on economic equity. You will share your subject matter expertise through speaking engagements and high-level advisory services. You will engage with diverse audiences including community development practitioners, national and local media outlets, and internal and external groups of researchers and leaders.

Responsibilities

Lead high-level applied and policy relevant research activities that advances the Bank's and the Institute for Economic Equity's (IEE) reputation and our strategy.
Be a subject matter expert on issues of labor equity and workforce development and overall economic equity.
Contribute to timely research that advances the goals of the community development department across the Eighth district and beyond.
Communicate complex data analysis through writing and presentations to a variety of audiences.
Leverage technical skills using statistical software, expertise in multiple datasets, and knowledge of statistical methods to advance the work of IEE's staff, affiliated researchers, and the Community Development team.
Participate System workgroups and serve as the Bank's representative at key System meetings, internal and external events.
Contribute to a collegial and inclusive work environment and enhance group performance by developing positive working relationships.
Help manage training, project tasks and development of Institute's summer interns.

Requirements

Master's or a PhD in economics, sociology, demography, psychology, mathematics, statistics, public policy, or other related fields.
Experience (6+ years; with PhD, 2 or more years) analyzing and handling labor market, workforce, and economic data along with flexibility to develop expertise with new datasets.
Demonstrated experience with statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, Python), including writing code and developing analytical scripts and tools.
Analytical and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated experience writing for non-academic audiences.
Experience communicating and collaborating with both researchers and practitioners.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including eagerness and ability to work as part of a team; can demonstrate working relationships with technical and non-technical staff.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion

Able to travel up to 15%.

Salary: $101, 000 - $114,000
