Visiting Lecturer
Economics Department
New York University Arts and Science

The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science invites applications for
visiting lecturer positions to begin September 1, 2023, subject to administrative and budgetary
approval. The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed for one additional year.

The visiting lecturer will be responsible for teaching undergraduate lectures and recitations in
micro or macroeconomics. Candidates must have defended their dissertation between 2020 and
2023.

If the selected candidate will graduate in Summer 2023, the Economics Department must receive
by July 31 a signed Doctoral Thesis Reader Sheet from the primary adviser approving the
dissertation for defense. The dissertation must be successfully defended and deposited to the
Graduate School on or before September 10, 2023 in time for the graduation deadlines. Failure to
meet any of these deadlines will result in a failure to meet criteria for employment in a post-
doctoral capacity in the Economics Department.

We are seeking to hire a recent doctoral graduate in Economics with a strong record of teaching,
relevant professional experience, familiarity with the Economics curriculum and student body,
and a commitment to questions of equity and diversity.

All materials must be received by May 15, 2023.  We will keep considering further applications
until the position is filled.

Applications should include (1) a statement detailing the candidate’s qualifications
and explaining how diversity has figured in their academic activities; and (2) a one-page
description of an introductory undergraduate course in micro or macroeconomics the applicant
might teach, including key texts to be assigned; and (3) a curriculum vitae through
http://apply.interfolio.com/124320.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is
$60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and
responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills,
internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an
offer.
