The Department of Education Reform in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas invites applications for an open-rank, 9-month faculty position. The holder of the position is expected to conduct research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, teach graduate courses, and fulfill other related service activities on behalf of the department, college, and/or university. Conducting research in the general area of education accountability and transparency and advising and mentoring doctoral students constitute the bulk of this person’s responsibilities. Teaching approximately two graduate seminars per year on topics appropriate to this person’s expertise and advising local, state, and national education leaders on policy matters are also expected. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

The individual selected for this position will be expected to possess the following required minimum qualifications by the time of appointment:
• An earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Education Policy, or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of and scholarly contributions to one or more specific research areas under the general topic of accountability and transparency, including, for example, student and school accountability, school finance, teacher pensions, or public reporting.
• Experience and achievements relative to rank (candidates with experience and achievements at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure are preferred, though exceptional candidates at the Assistant Professor level will also be considered).
• Demonstrated commitment to the active pursuit of a research agenda leading to refereed scholarship, professional presentations, and external funding.
• Record of successful publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Evidence of effective teaching and mentoring at the graduate level.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, tolerance of people with diverse viewpoints, and collegiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience translating research findings to K-12 educators and policymakers to implement and improve evidence-based practices.
• Experience securing and successfully administering external funding.
• Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships.
