Full Text of JOE Listing:

We are searching for tenured or tenure-track macroeconomists of any rank who will strengthen
the national and global relevance of the Department’s research mission, attract and further
diversify faculty researchers, strengthen gender and ethnic diversity in the PhD program, and
build and encourage interdisciplinary research collaborations.

The Department of Economics is a research-focused department and since 1969, the Department
has offered an excellent PhD program, attracting students from around the globe, with
placements in academic and government institutions as well as the private sector.
We also offer an MA program that prepares students for successful careers in industry
and government. Additionally, the BA program in economics is one of the largest undergraduate
majors at the University. The Department of Economics is housed within Stony Brook’s College
of Arts and Sciences, the intellectual heart of the University, which spans the natural sciences,
humanities, social sciences, and fine arts.

Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: (i) A PhD in Economics by the
start of the appointment and experience and publication record commensurate with the level of
the appointment at which the candidate aspires. (ii) Academic stature and commensurate
academic accomplishments in line with the level of the appointment at which the candidate
aspires (iii) Demonstrated or potential abilities to communicate effectively with faculty, staff,
students, and alumni, as well as an excellent record of teaching or potential of, at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels; (iv) A record or expected record of success in undergraduate
and graduate student advising and placement; and, (vi) Commitment to participation in service at
the department and university levels consistent with an active research agenda.
