The Senior Environmental Economist will be part of the Natural Capital and Climate Team in the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office. The Senior Economist will be responsible to manage economic and financial analysis for projects related to natural capital that may include terrestrial, aquatic, and coastal and marine ecosystems. The Senior Economist is expected to work with ADB clients to develop project and technical assistance concepts, build capacity, and provide policy support for natural capital. Based on this upstream work, the Senior Economist will be expected to develop and prepare natural capital investments in collaboration with ADB clients and partners managing the required due diligence across a range of parameters to assess their viability. The Senior Economist should have proven experience with nature-based solutions and innovative approaches to natural capital projects, including financing with both public and private sector finance options and relevant economic valuation methods such as natural capital and gross ecosystem productivity accounting. The candidate should have demonstrated ability with project preparation ideally working with international financial institutions and ADB member countries. The candidate should have an advanced degree in environmental or resource economics and natural capital expertise, which could be substituted with relevant experience.
