Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Research Methods
Department of Health Services Administration, School of Health Professions

To meet the needs of our expanding programs, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Health Professions Department of Health Services Administration announces an opening for a full time, tenure-track, faculty position (open rank) to begin in Fall of 2024.

We seek applications from innovative, motivated, and engaged individuals who are committed to research, teaching, and service in the Department of Health Services Administration. We are particularly interested in candidates who can apply their expertise and experience in using quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methods to teaching and research in health policy, healthcare organizations and management, quality and safety, efficiency, value of care, and as related to various patient and organizational outcomes. Training and experience in applying research methods, including but not limited to data science, analytics, economics, statistics, or mixed methods to the social sciences and healthcare contexts is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have earned a terminal degree in a relevant discipline. They will also have an interest and ability to (1) teach methods or statistics courses, (2) engage in research projects with and provide expert methodological consultation to department colleagues and doctoral students, (3) collaborate with health system leaders, clinicians, and policy makers. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

UAB’s Department of Health Services Administration offers a PhD and a DSc program, a large undergraduate program in Healthcare Management (AUPHA-certified), and master’s degree programs in Health Administration (CAHME-accredited, ranked #1 in the nation by US News and World Report), Healthcare Quality and Safety (CAHME-accredited, ranked #11 in the nation by US News and World Report), Health Informatics (CAHIIM accredited), and Healthcare Simulation (one of a few in the nation).
