Are you intrigued by transportation fuel markets and California’s ongoing transition to renewable energy sources? We have two high-profile Economist opportunities within the newly created Division of Petroleum Market Oversight (DPMO).

DPMO was created through a special legislative session in 2023 and is the first-in-the-nation government watchdog focused on transportation fuels. DPMO is housed within the California Energy Commission (CEC), the state’s primary energy policy and planning agency, which is leading the state to a 100% clean energy future.

Our CEC Economists will apply economic theory and expert knowledge of statistics, data, and modeling techniques to devise methodologies and improve the core analytical capabilities needed to meet the wide range of state mandates and priorities involved in transportation fuels modeling. These core capabilities include economic and econometric modeling, data analysis, research, policy analysis.

Telework option available, but hired candidates must reside in California before starting
