McMaster University’s Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for a one-year, full-time contractually-limited position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, located on the main campus to begin on July 1, 2024.

Applicants must have an area of specialization in labour economics.

The successful applicant will teach a total of seven 3-unit courses in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms, including two sections of ECON 2A03-Labour Market Issues, two sections of ECON 3D03-Labour Economics, and two sections of the research methods course ECON 4F03–Methods of Inquiry in Economics. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed or are very near completing a PhD in Economics. The applicant must also demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching and a willingness and ability to contribute to the department’s collegial and collaborative intellectual community as well as university-wide inclusive excellence goals and priorities. The position is initially for one-year, but is renewable subject to good performance and continued funding.

The department will begin reviewing applications on May 13th, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. Only complete applications will be considered. The effective date of appointment is negotiable, but July 1, 2024 is preferred.
