The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in health economics.
This role focuses on investigating the impacts of specialty care expansion in healthcare, particularly on disparities and underserved populations. The researcher will engage in multi-year NIH-supported projects, studying the effects of percutaneous coronary intervention facilities and stroke certification program expansions on outcomes for time-sensitive conditions. Responsibilities include designing study methods, conducting analyses, and supporting data archive development. Additionally, the researcher may pursue independent projects and publish peer-reviewed work. Mentored by Dr. Yu-Chu Shen and Dr. Renee Hsia, candidates require a PhD in economics, health policy, or related fields; strong quantitative skills, and proficiency in Stata. Applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in healthcare delivery, policy, and disparities. The position offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and participation in the NBER aging and health fellowship program.
Start date is flexible, and applications require a cover letter, CV, manuscript, and three references. The position is one year with an optional extension of an additional year.
