The department seeks candidates for 2024-25 to teach intermediate microeconomics and principles of macroeconomics. Appointment is flexible with up to a 4-4 load (0.8 FTE) AY-to-AY and renewable depending on evaluations and need. Compensation is based on FTEs, and there is a potential for higher FTE. Instructors are eligible for internal grant funds to conduct applied economic research on United States regulation and public policy in agriculture, health, technology, finance, natural resources, education, labor, public safety, and other sectors.
The department has 23 faculty, half working in agricultural. Undergraduate degrees are offered in Agricultural Business, Economics, and Financial Engineering, with undergraduate majors numbering about 350. The Department offers a very rigorous, highly respected Master’s in Applied Economics, graduating an average of 6-7 students per year. MSU is a land-grant university with total enrollment of over 17,000 students, including 2,000 graduate students. It is recognized as a highly-intensive research university.
Required Qualifications. Master’s or ABD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. Current expertise and substantial knowledge in the specific field or discipline.
Preferred Qualifications. Experience teaching economics. Ph.D. in Economics or Agricultural Economics.
