The Institute for Macroeconomics and Policy Analysis (impa.american.edu), part of the Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University, invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position at the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Assistant Professor. Applicants should have a PhD or anticipate PhD completion by August 2025. The appointment will commence on or before September 1, 2025. This is a non-tenure-track position. There is no teaching associated with this position. The successful candidate will have experience in state-of-the-art macroeconomic modeling, coding models, and analyzing data. The position is responsible for developing and extending the IMPA model code base and will use numerical techniques to build and solve heterogeneous agent macroeconomic models (particularly sequence-space jacobian methods and related extensions). Knowledge of current debates in U.S. fiscal policy is a bonus. Applications must include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, sample research paper, and sample Julia and R/Stata code.
