The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Economics seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice or Instruction, starting in August 2026. This position is a 9-month academic year, two-year appointment with a primary focus on undergraduate teaching and economics education outreach. The appointment may be extended after the initial two-year term.

The standard teaching load is four 3-credit economics courses per semester, delivered through a combination of in-person and online modalities. New hires receive a one-course reduction in either the fall or spring semester of their first year. Depending on expertise and departmental needs, teaching assignments may include Introduction to Business Economics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Statistics for Business Analytics, and/or Decision Analytics. Regular on-campus presence and scheduled office hours are required.

In addition to teaching, this position includes a service role supporting the department’s economics education initiatives, with particular emphasis on developing and delivering online and classroom-based resources for K–12 teachers and students.
