The Graduate School of Business at Columbia University invites applications for Adjunct Professors of Economics to teach electives during the 2027 Spring term. The position is part-time and non-tenure-track. Please note, our part-time faculty positions are posted based on anticipated need and student enrollment.
We are seeking three adjuncts — one for each of the following electives:
Economics of High-performing Organizations — topics such as incentives, decision-making, information, organizational design, and firm performance, with emphasis on translating economic insights into actionable strategies relevant for managers and executives
Economics of Platforms, AI and Tech — topics such as platforms, AI, and the business models employed by tech firms, bringing a rigorous yet practical perspective to real-world business challenges.
Economics of Healthcare and/or Pharma — the economics of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, connecting economic frameworks to real-world business challenges.
For each position, candidates must have substantial industry experience applying economic frameworks to real-world business challenges. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bridge economic theory and business practice, and who bring firsthand insight into how organizations operate in complex, real-world environments.
Adjunct faculty at CBS play an essential role in delivering rigorous, analytically grounded instruction that connects economic theory to real-world business, financial, and policy contexts. The successful candidate will contribute to CBS’s mission of advancing the understanding and practice of economics in the global economy.
Responsibilities
Teach at least one course in the MBA program
Design and deliver high-quality, engaging class sessions
Integrate economic frameworks with real-world business applications
Draw on industry experience to enrich classroom discussion
Prepare syllabi, assignments, and assessments in accordance with CBS academic standards
Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
Hold office hours and actively engage with students
Coordinate with CBS faculty and comply with university and school policies
Contribute to the intellectual life of the Economics Division
Appointment Details
Appointment type: Part-time, non-tenure-track
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, consistent with Columbia
