The Market Shaping Accelerator (MSA) housed at the Center for Global Development is hiring a Fellow or Senior Fellow to lead research and policy work on market shaping, pull incentives, and innovation.

MSA designs advance market commitments, prizes, milestone payments, and other mechanisms that align private incentives with social value and accelerate innovation in global health, pandemic preparedness, climate, AI safety, and drug repurposing.

The successful candidate will lead a research agenda combining economic theory, industrial organization, market design, quantitative analysis, and policy design. Responsibilities include producing policy-relevant research, engaging policymakers and funders, mobilizing funding, representing MSA externally, and mentoring staff.

Applicants should hold, or expect to complete before starting, a PhD in economics and should also have experience with (or demonstrated interest in) translating research into policy. The position is based in CGD’s Washington, DC office, with at least three in-office days per week. Employees must reside in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. Visa sponsorship is available.
