Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Economics of Religion
The Institute for the Study of Religion, Economics, and Society (IRES) at Chapman University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Economics of Religion. The fellowship will begin in Fall 2027 and may be renewed for up to two years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.
Founded in 2009 by Dr. Laurence R. Iannaccone, IRES is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary scholarship on the relationships among religion, economics, and society. The institute brings together economists, sociologists, and other social scientists to investigate religious behavior, institutions, and their broader social and economic impacts. IRES supports this mission through a wide range of activities, including scholarly publications, research seminars, conferences, training workshops, academic courses, public lectures, and online resources.
IRES serves as the home of the Association for the Study of Religion, Economics, and Culture (ASREC) and is a partner of the Association of Religion Data Archives (ARDA). Through these affiliations, the institute has become a central hub within a growing international network of scholars and students engaged in the scientific study of religion.
