The Education Policy Labs at Georgia State University in Atlanta are seeking a full-time Research Director to contribute to the scientific and intellectual leadership for the Metro Atlanta Policy Lab for Education. There are two labs, the Metro Atlanta Policy Lab for Education, “MAPLE” (a partnership between Georgia State and five Atlanta-area school districts that collectively enroll 30 percent of the public school students in Georgia) and the Career and Technical Education Policy Exchange, “CTEx” (a collaboration of researchers studying career and technical education using student level data databases from three state partners – Arkansas, Michigan and Tennessee).
The Research Director will help to manage research and project staff, provide scientific direction and ensure the quality of all work. The Research Director would also be expected to direct a portfolio of applied research projects in association with faculty members and research teams that will analyze existing policies, and design the piloting and roll-out of new policy initiatives.
Education and experience required:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. by fall 2018 in public policy, economics, education policy or a related field with at least two years of policy and research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Preference will be given to those with proven experience working with interdisciplinary research teams and with local and state education agencies.
