Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is now accepting applications for the recently established IDB Working Group on Behavioral Economics.
The IDB, the leading multilateral institution for Latin America and the Caribbean, is looking to build upon its experience helping governments use behavioral economics tools to improve lives in LAC by expanding the knowledge creation, dissemination, and operational content in the area. Visiting Scholars will join the working group housed at IDB headquarters in Washington, DC. Scholars are required to be in residence for the duration of their appointment, which can range from 6 to 24 months.
The program offers scholars the opportunity to combine independent research with active involvement in the IDB’s programs and activities, including the implementation of behavioral interventions in the field. Visiting scholars enjoy full access to the library and electronic resources. Most interestingly, they have access to a broad network of practitioners, scholars, and policymakers, and in collaboration with IDB staff they may have access to funds for financing field research.
Visiting scholars will work alongside Research Department economists, Sector Economic Advisors, and sector specialists in bringing new ideas to policy design, advising government officials about best practices and solutions, designing behavioral interventions for IDB loans and grants, evaluating the impact of behavioral interventions, and disseminating their work through publications and presentations.
Qualifications: PhD in Economics (PhD Candidates are also encouraged to apply), or related field. The positions are open to applicants with a keen intellectual interest and academic potential working in behavioral economics.
