I. The Positions
Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) seeks applications for two faculty positions in the Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management (FSPPM). Preference will be given to applicants in three broad categories: 1) Public Management, Administration and Leadership (including Negotiation and Communication); 2) Macroeconomics; and 3) International Trade.
II. The Institution
Located in Ho Chi Minh City, FUV is Vietnam’s first private, not-for-profit university announced by President Barack Obama on May 24, 2016 and given substantial financial support from the US State Department, USAID, and a variety of private donors. We aim to create an institution that can transform the lives our students, address the pressing needs of Vietnamese society, and ultimately point the way toward a new approach to high quality education in developing countries.
The FSPPM builds upon a two-decade long initiative of Harvard University to incubate a center of public policy research and teaching, the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program (FETP). In the fall of 2016, Harvard transferred the people and programs of FETP to FUV. Among FSPPM’s activities are a fulltime Masters in Public Policy (MPP) program; the Vietnam Executive Leadership Program (VELP); and the Grand Challenges Initiative, a research program focuses on critical policy challenges facing Vietnam such as climate change, environmental sustainability, and cyber security.
FUV’s Board of Trustees has adopted an ambitious mandate for FSPPM to become an internationally recognized graduate professional school that prepares students for positions of leadership in all sectors of society and contribute to the resolution of the grand challenges facing Vietnam, the region, and the world through policy engagement, analysis, and research.
III. Qualifications and How to Apply
Candidates will ideally take up the position by the Fall of 2018. Remuneration and benefits will be internationally competitive. A PhD (or equivalent terminal degree) in a policy-relevant field is required, though candidates in their final stage of PhD candidacy will also be considered. Relevant teaching and research experience in policy issues are desired. Experience or interest in Vietnam and Southeast Asia will also be appreciated. Vietnamese language skills are valuable, but not required. Applicants are invited to send a letter of interest, a CV and the names of three professional references to jobs.fsppm@fuv.edu.vn. The positions will remain open until filled; please apply by March 31, 2018 for fullest consideration.
