The Central Bank of Chile is looking to fill up two Senior Economist positions in its Macroeconomic Analysis Unit.

Senior economists lead high-quality applied research to guide the economic policy process at the Central Bank. Candidates are expected to identify relevant policy issues that may affect the future monetary policy, to present and publish their research in academic journals. Candidates also contribute to the Bank providing high-quality analysis regarding both the evolution of domestic macroeconomic variables and the forecasting process.

The Macroeconomic Analysis Unit is part of the Economic Research Division. It elaborates crucial inputs relating to the Monetary Policy Meetings and the Monetary Policy Report. These include foreign and domestic macroeconomic analysis, forecasts with state-of-art models, etc. The unit is endowed with various PhD economists graduated from leading universities, as well as Master-level research assistants.

Applicants should have a PhD in Economics, or expect to receive it, by September 2018. Experienced PhD economists are also encouraged to apply. Areas of interest should preferably be in monetary policy, international macroeconomics and finance, labor economics, and macroeconometrics. Candidates with experience in structural macroeconomic modelling are especially encouraged to apply.
