The Central Bank of Chile is recruiting an Economist/Senior Economist for its Financial Research Department.

Economists at the Financial Research Department conduct high-quality academic research with applications to financial stability and policy issues. They are expected to publish their work in international peer-reviewed journals. They are also expected to contribute to policy reports, briefing the Board in topics of his/her expertise, and to collaborate in the organization of seminars, workshops and conferences.

The Financial Research Department is part of the Financial Policy Division. It employs PhD economists graduated from U.S. and European universities, as well as Master-level research assistants.

The position will be full time, open ended, and offers an internationally competitive salary and benefit package.

Applicants should have a PhD in Economics or Finance, or equivalent degree, by the end of 2018. Experienced, already graduated PhD economists are especially encouraged to apply.

Areas of research interest should preferably include: household finance, banking, and corporate finance; however, applicants with other fields of specialization in microeconomics and macro-finance will also be considered. All candidates should have a firm knowledge of both economic theory and advanced econometric techniques, and well-developed soft skills. Knowledge of Spanish would be an asset.
