Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Oregon Department of Revenue is recruiting for two senior economists to conduct the department's most complex economic studies and analyses that frequently involve the entire public finance system and the department's administration of tax laws. Projects include developing statistical and other descriptive information about the state's tax system, development of revenue forecasts, and evaluating the revenue and distributional effects of proposed tax law changes. In addition, the positions participate in research studies relating to the department's administration of its tax programs.
Projects frequently involve communication with executive and legislative branch staff, media, lobbyists, and policymakers and require considerable judgement in providing objective information and insight involving politically-sensitive and/or controversial issues.
These positions offer excellent opportunities for applied research in an environment where public policies are being implemented. They involve extensive work with complex data sets using statistical programming and the opportunity to build and share knowledge in support of data-driven policymaking.
The State of Oregon offers an attractive benefits package and a great work environment in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
