The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is now accepting applications for a Consultant Technical Coordinator to the Financial Stability Development Group and the Macroeconomic Policy and Finance Network.
The IDB Research Department (RES) coordinates two networks with direct interactions with policymakers in the Latin America and the Caribbean region: The Financial Stability and Development Group (FSD) and the Macroeconomic Policy and Finance Network (Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries).
The main objective of the FSD is to enhance policymaking in monetary and financial areas by the central banks of South America by means of regional cooperation. The Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries brings together top officials from finance ministries and central banks from the region plus top policymakers and academics from around the world to discuss the most important economic issues facing the region.
The consultant will serve as technical coordinator for the activities of the two networks and will work under the supervision of the team leader of the networks. In addition, he or she will conduct research on the topics of interest to the FSD and/or the Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries network.
The main tasks undertaken by the contractual related to the activities of the FSD Group will be to: coordinate the events organized or sponsored by the FSD; to assist in the planning and management of the FSD operation; and to support and carry out research on issues relevant to the FSD.
When coordinating the FSD operation, the contractual is expected to produce main FSD documents such as the annual plan of network activities, the annual network research agenda, the minutes of FSD regular meetings, a summary of the conferences and annual report of FSD activities, as well as to provide inputs for the budget planning and managing of the Group. In parallel to these activities, the contractual will help maintaining the FSD website, including defining and collecting relevant research, data and FSD documents.
Also, the contractual will work for the Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries. He/she is expected to assist and provide technical support with the activities of the bi-annual meetings. He/she is also expected to propose and carry-out new activities aimed at keeping the Network active in between regular meetings.
Qualifications
•Education: Master’s degree in economics, finance or related fields is required, with at least five (5) years of relevant experience. Ph.D. candidates or recent graduates conducting research on topics related to Monetary Policy may also apply
•Spanish and English are required.
•Experience: Economics, Finance, Banking, Econometrics.
The candidate should have good written and oral communication skills, solid managerial capacity, and be able to work independently. Ideally the candidate should have project management experience, as well as experience in monetary policy and financial stability issues, preferably in central banks.
