The Faculty of Liberal Arts (FLA), Sophia University, invites applications for an open-rank position in economic development, starting 1 April 2019 (preferred date) or 21 September, 2019. (Assistant Professor is a five-year tenure-track appointment, while appointments of Associate Professor and Professor are tenured.)

The candidate should have a portfolio of research accomplishments, teaching experience, and a Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy or a closely related field. Teaching is in English.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses including principles of microeconomics, introduction to economic development, and course for non-economics majors covering issues, such as poverty, inequality and immigration. In addition to teaching undergraduates, the successful applicant will teach a graduate course in economic development and supervise M.A. students. The normal teaching load is two or three courses per semester. Expertise in the development of Asian economies is desirable. Experience in international organizations is an asset though not required.
