The Coinbase Institute (coinbase.com/institute) seeks a Research Analyst to conduct original research on crypto markets using proprietary big data. The mission of the Coinbase Institute is to accelerate rigorous, novel research and bring together the best minds across disciplines to fuel progress on decentralization, web3, and the future of finance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economics and statistics; be knowledgeable about the current economic policy debate and general economic trends; and have an entrepreneurial and proactive mindset.

Job Responsibilities:
- Devote 40 hours per week to help conducting cutting-edge analyses using on- and off-chain data
- Develop insights and implications from the analyses in conjunction with internal thought-leaders
- The person will be hired as a 1099 contractor.
- Responsible for developing research papers, slide presentations, and blog posts for both internal and external audiences
- Fully remote job.

Candidate Qualifications:
- Candidates with quantitative social sciences research experience are preferred.
- Knowledge of Python and SQL required.
- Strong background in econometrics
- Experience working with big data
- Demonstrated understanding of cryptocurrencies and Web3 is a plus
- Strong writing and oral communications skills
- Creativity, discretion, and a commitment to intellectual rigor.
