The Department of Social Sciences at Universidad Católica del Uruguay invites applications for one full-time position in Economics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2023. Completion or near completion of a Ph.D. is required. While we are open to all specializations in economics, we seek scholars with strong academic interests and solid empirical training.

The position involves a 2-2 course load, advising undergraduate and graduate theses and developing an ambitious research agenda. Working conditions, remuneration, and career prospects will be competitive with respect to regional standards and commensurate with the experience of the candidate selected. Successful candidates will be fluent in Spanish and English and will have a concern with social responsibility and the ethical implications of knowledge and action.

The Department of Social Sciences offers an undergraduate degree in Economics and an M.A. degree in Public Policy. Comprised of a group of young scholars with research interests that include economics, politics, urban studies, and sociology, the Department supports research that cuts across traditional academic boundaries. The Department also hosts the Methods Winter School each July, a regionally recognized venue for methods and data analysis training.
