Job Title:
Energy Research Economist
Job Purpose:
Assist Director of UW Center for Business and Economic Analysis (CBEA) with economic analysis of the energy sector.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Director of the CBEA to undertake economic analysis in the energy sector. Areas of focus include carbon capture and storage, oil and gas production (including enhanced oil recovery), wind, solar, rare-earth elements and critical minerals, etc.
Work closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders at UW’s School of Energy Resources (SER) and the energy industry, with the goal of deepening Wyoming’s investment in the energy sector.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires an MS degree in economics or a related field. The position also requires explicit knowledge of standard statistical software, such as R, Python, or Stata.
Successful applicants should possess excellent communication and applied research skills.
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in economics and 3-5 years of experience with economic analysis in the energy industry.
Other desired qualifications include:
(1) Knowledge of and experience with software for economic impact analyses, such as IMPLAN. Experience with survey analysis and programming in Qualtrics is also desired.
(2) Knowledge of Wyoming’s economy and the energy industry.
