The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in South China. UM is placed No. 193 in the THE World University Rankings and placed No. 245 in the QS World University Rankings. Leveraging its ‘4-in-1’ model of education and residential college system, UM provides all-round undergraduate education, nurturing talent to support social and economic development.

The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) is one of the largest faculties in the University. FBA is a well-established full-service business faculty with AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS accreditations. The Department of Finance and Business Economics at FBA invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in Economics with a specialization in applied microeconomics (Reference No.: FBA/FBE/ECAM/AAP/12/2023). Faculty members of our department have an impressive record of publications in premier economics and finance journals. Several faculty members hold editorial roles in esteemed academic journals. We are committed to providing exceptional research support to our faculty, inclusive of a start-up research grant, a reasonable teaching load, and access to sophisticated facilities.

Qualifications
Applicants should (1) be a promising or established scholar with a doctoral degree in Economics, or a closely related field, (2) have the ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, (3) have ability to publish research papers in highly ranked journals in related fields. Applicants for Associate Professor position should have a well-established track record of research excellence substantiated by publication in highly ranked journals, and a strong commitment to mentoring junior researchers.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty by July 2025.

Remuneration
The actual remuneration is commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. UM also offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, provident fund, on-campus accommodation/housing allowance and other subsidies.
