Alice M. Rivlin (1931-2019)

The American Economic Association and the economics profession were saddened to learn of the passing of Alice M. Rivlin, at age 88. The founding Director of the Congressional Budget office, Rivlin was an influential economist in Washington for more than 60 years who served as vice chair of the Federal Reserve and was the first woman to head the Office of Management and Budget, which she led under President Bill Clinton. Rivlin was president of the American Economic Association in 1986. More about her can be read in her obituary in The Wall Street Journal.
