The AEA’s 2019 Annual Meeting in Atlanta received widespread attention from mainstream news outlets. The profession’s gender imbalance and the steps being taken to address it was covered by The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and National Public Radio. A panel discussion by current and former Fed chairs also received attention from CNN, The Washington Post, BBC, The Hill, and Bloomberg. Wall Street Journal columnist Greg Ip and Bloomberg writers Jeanna Smialek and Peter Coy offered their general summations of interesting panels and topics discussed at the meeting. NPR's Planet Money also produced a piece that surveyed economists about overrated and underrated economic indicators.
