Rachel Croson receives 2017 Carolyn Shaw Bell Award
Dr. Rachel Croson of Michigan State University is the 2017 recipient of the Carolyn Shaw Bell Award. The award recognizes and honors an individual who has furthered the status of women in the economics profession and is given annually by the American Economic Association’s Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession. The committee said that Croson, the dean of the College of Social Science and MSU Foundation Professor of Economics, had devoted “an enormous amount of energy and creativity to mentoring women in economics” and had been a vital part of CSWEP’s mentoring effort since 1998. Croson will be presented with the award in January during the 2018 AEA Meeting in Philadelphia. The committee’s full announcement can be found here.
