The Gainesville Sun cited papers in the American Economic Review and the Journal of Economic Literature in a column about the gender wage gap. The column, by retired University of Florida professor Dave Denslow, featured a forthcoming JEL article by Francine Blau and Lawrence Kahn about the trends and extent of the gender wage gap over three decades between 1980 and 2010. The Sun columnist also cited a paper in the current issue of AER that looked at the impact of having a child on women’s careers in Denmark. The paper by Petter Lundborg, Erik Plug, and Astrid Wurtz Rasmussen found a substantial negative and long-term effect on their earnings.
