Martin Feldstein (1939-2019)
Martin Feldstein passed away at the age of 79.
The American Economic Association and the economics profession were saddened to learn of the passing of Martin Feldstein, at age 79. A professor of economics at Harvard for 50 years, Feldstein was one of the most influential economists of his generation. He advised the administrations of Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, and dramatically expanded the reach of the National Bureau of Economic Research as its president for more than three decades. He served as president of the American Economic Association in 2004 and won the John Bates Clark Medal in 1977. More about him can be read in his obituary in The Wall Street Journal.
