In April 2018, the AEA Executive Committee voted to establish a new standing Committee on Equity, Diversity, and Professional Conduct.   The charge of the committee is to consider, implement and oversee the initiatives recommended by the Ad Hoc Committee on the Professional Climate in Economics.

The establishment of this committee was recommended by an Ad Hoc Committee on the Professional Climate in Economics consisting of Marianne Bertrand (Chair), Amanda Bayer, David Deming and Shelly Lundberg.
