AEA Member Announcements: AEA/ASSA Meeting, January 2021 (May 28, 2020)
To: Members of the American Economic Association
From: Janet Yellen, President
Subject: AEA/ASSA Meeting, January 2021
As we continue to navigate these uncertain times, the American Economic Association is monitoring the ever-changing landscape of federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and guidelines and the potential impact on upcoming conferences and events. The health and safety of our members is our number one priority and will inform all decisions regarding whether or not to move forward with any such conference or event.
At this moment, we have not made any decision to cancel our annual convention, currently scheduled to take place on January 3-5, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois. We are, however, evaluating potential options should the need arise to cancel the in-person event, including the possibility of conducting the event virtually.
Please be assured that, if the need to cancel or change the format of the event arises, we will notify you promptly and provide you with the information necessary to reschedule or cancel any bookings or reservations for the event.
We thank you for your patience during these trying times.
