Subject: Annual Meeting Registration and Other Announcements
The Annual Meeting of the American Economic Association will be held in Chicago, IL January 6-8, 2017. This is a Friday/Saturday/Sunday meeting. Headquarters, registration and exhibits are in the Hyatt Regency, Chicago. Registration opens September 14th at 10am CDT at https://conf.aeaweb.org. General meeting information, which also includes procedures for employers and job seekers, will be available on the AEA website September 6th. There will be no on-site interview arrangement service or on-site message exchange center; all interview scheduling should be conducted over the internet prior to arrival in Chicago. Job placement interview tables will be located at the Sheraton Grand Chicago.

The AEA's 2017 Continuing Education Program will be held at the Loews Chicago on January 8-10, 2017. Participants can choose from three concurrent programs. Topics to date will include Cross-Section Econometrics, (Alberto Abadie, MIT, Joshua Angrist, MIT and Christopher Walters, UC Berkeley), and Behavorial Finance (Ulrike Malmendier, UC Berkeley, and Nicholas Barberis, Yale University). Announcing an amendment to rules for awarding the John Bates Clark Medal. By vote of the AEA Executive Committee and effective immediately, the rules for awarding the Clark Medal shall be changed to append "If there is a significant body of joint work, the Clark Medal may be awarded jointly to two recipients." Locations for Future Annual Meetings will be Chicago, January 6-8, 2017, followed by: Philadelphia (2018), Atlanta (2019), San Diego (2020), Chicago (2021), Boston (2022), New Orleans (2023), San Antonio (2024), and San Francisco (2025). Please note that the locations for 2018 and 2019 have been reversed to provide members with the best possible meeting experience.
The Annual AEA Officer Elections are open. If you haven't voted and wish to participate, watch your mail for a paper ballot or your e-mail for an electronic ballot, and return it before October 1, 2016.

"A career in Economics . . . it's much more than you think." The AEA has launched a 9-minute informational video aimed at prospective or first-year students who may be investigating economics as a career option but are unclear about how broadly a degree in economics can be applied. The video features four individuals offering insights on how economics can be a tool for solving very human problems and perspectives on how they chose economics as a career path. The Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP). Nominate your candidates for CSWEP's Carolyn Shaw Bell Award and the Elaine Bennett Research Prize by September 26, 2016, and September 21, 2016, respectively. AEA Summer Training Program & Scholarship Program increases diversity by preparing talented undergraduates for doctoral programs in Economics and related disciplines. Students receive 8 weeks of intensive training in microeconomics, mathematics, and research methods with leading faculty hosted at Michigan State University in collaboration with Western Michigan University. The Seventh Annual AEA Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE) is May 31 – June 2, 2017 at the Westin Denver Downtown. The conference is hosted by the AEA Committee on Economic Education, the Journal of Economic Education and the Federal Reserve Bank of Denver. Plenary talks will be given by Dean Karlan (Yale University), Troy Davig (Kansas City FED), and Anna Maria Lusardi (George Washington). There will be a dinner and a speaker at the Federal Reserve Bank of Denver. Submissions will be accepted via the AEA online submission system. Submissions may be of individual papers, complete sessions of three or four papers, workshops, or panels. Submissions of completed sessions are especially encouraged. The submission portal will open September 23, and the submission deadline is December 1, 2016.
