To: Members of the American Economic Association
From: Peter L. Rousseau, Secretary-Treasurer
Subject: Annual Meeting Registration and Other Announcements
The Annual Meeting of the American Economic Association will be held in San Diego, California on January 3-5, 2020. This is a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday meeting. Registration and exhibits are in the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina. The co-headquarters hotel is the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. General meeting information is available on the AEA website at https://www.aeaweb.org/conference.
Important Annual Meeting Registration Information: In an effort to improve the economics professional climate, the AEA is strongly discouraging employers from conducting interviews in regular hotel rooms. Interviews held in hotel suites are considered acceptable. For this reason, the suites in the conference block are reserved for employers who will be conducting interviews. General attendees of the meeting are asked to support this initiative by reserving a regular hotel room and affirming that it will not be used for interviews. The general attendee ASSA registration and housing will open at https://conf.aeaweb.org on Thursday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. EDT. In order to complete your registration, you will be required to acknowledge and accept the AEA Code of Professional Conduct and the AEA Policy on Harassment and Discrimination. Please feel free to read through these policies ahead of time so as not to slow down the process of your registration and housing reservation. If you are an employer and would like more information on the interview suites and other options for interview space, please visit https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2020-interviewing.
Convention Management Resources (CMR) will be the housing company for the 2020 meetings. Please take a minute to review the process for booking rooms and placing yourself on waitlists as needed.
Employers interviewing at the 2020 Annual Meeting: A SUITE CODE IS REQUIRED prior to registering for an interview suite for the 2020 ASSA Meeting. Registration for the suites opens on Tuesday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. EDT. For information, including how to obtain a suite code and other options available for interviewing, see https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2020-interviewing. All interview scheduling should be arranged prior to arrival in San Diego. Additional job interview spaces will be located at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego.
