The Atlantic quoted past AEA president Claudia Goldin in a piece reflecting on Janet Yellen’s tenure as Fed chair and the need to promote women into prominent positions within economics. Goldin, a Harvard professor who was president in 2013-14, cited the recent election of AEA officers as an example of progress. She noted that the AEA has “almost a full house of female officers” and also that the “major journal has had a female editor for a long time.” The Atlantic also quoted CSWEP Board Chair Shelly Lundberg about what made Yellen a particularly powerful role model — “the general acclaim of her performance.”
