Anusha Chari, Board Member

Anusha Chari is a Professor of Economics and Finance and Director of the Modern Indian Studies Initiative at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in the International Finance and Macroeconomics program and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in the International Macroeconomics and Finance programme. She received a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College at Oxford and Economics at the University of Delhi and a PhD in International Finance from The Anderson School at UCLA. She has served on the faculties of the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, the University of Michigan, and The Haas School of Business at Berkeley.

Professor Chari was a special advisor to the Indian Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and member of an Advisory Group of Eminent Persons on G20 Issues. She has authored multiple articles published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, American Economic Journal-Macroeconomics and Journal of International Economics.  Her research is in the fields of international finance and open-economy macroeconomics with a focus on emerging markets.
